I purchased the Christmas card you see below with the following sentiment at my local Christian bookstore. While I take it at face value, most Christians would have to say that it is an overstatement of the Gospel message.

What do you think?

Will He fulfill every purpose of His? Is it His will “to seek and to save that which was lost” or just try as hard as He can to save as many as He can? Is He really the Savior of the World or just “the potential savior of the world?” and actual savior of very few? Do you really believe He has “the authority to accomplish all He has spoken”? Or is it possible that His words return to Him void? (see Isa 55:11) If “His power is limitless” and “His love is endless” how do you account for the doctrine of an eternal hell where God’s will is thwarted, His word returns empty and love fails for all eternity for billions of His image-bearers?

Just read the following statements found on this Christmas card and let the truth of it all wash over your heart. Something inside tells you this is really the way it is. If we try and qualify and limit these sweeping promises it just doesn’t align with what we know to be true of our loving and sovereign God!
