“Hellbound? the Movie”, produced by Kevin Miller, is a full length docu-movie addressing the issues surrounding the debate over the nature of Hell due to be released September 2012.<\/p>\n
Kevin states,<\/p>\n
“Our doctrine of hell definitely flows from our doctrine of God, because like everything else in Creation, if hell exists, it expresses an aspect of God\u2019s character. Seeing as Christ is God incarnate, that means hell must reflect his character. Therefore, the life Jesus lived, the character he demonstrated and the ethic he taught should be the standard against which we evaluate our interpretation of hell.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

GodsLoveWIns is a community of believers with primarily Reformed-Calvinist backgrounds. Kevin Miller and a number of his endorsers represent what we Reformed evangelicals would label “liberal.” While we reject a number of things that liberal theologians have concluded we believe they challenge and fill some areas enormously lacking in the more “conservative” sector of the Body of Christ. As Tim Keller points out in his book Generous Justice<\/em> for example, the issue of caring for the poor is not a “liberal issue” but a Biblical one. In the same manner we do not perceive the issue of questioning the nature of hell as exclusively liberal. As Kevin stated above the concept of an eternal hell centers around the character of God. The questions posed by “Hellbound?” and on this site <\/a>are those which ought to be wrestled with by every Christian, liberal or otherwise. We cannot dismiss the premise of “Hellbound?” on the basis of other things we might disagree with within a more liberal theological paradigm. We must examine the merit of the argument against “eternal conscious torment” on its own.<\/p>\n
This is what we have done here on this website while maintaining a high view of the Scriptures and holding firmly to the historical creeds.<\/a> As former 5-point Calvinists we have concluded that hell is not eternal, based upon the Word of God, not<\/em> in spite of it.<\/p>\n
We encourage all to view the movie when it premiers September 12 even if you have prejudged its message or value on account of certain endorsements such as Brian McLaren etc., “All truth is God’s truth” even if it comes from a source outside your theological comfort zone.<\/p>\n
