I was meditating on the verses from the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus encourages us, even commands us to ask, seek and knock as we walk in our relationship with Him. There are a lot of things I have asked and will continue to ask, and seek, and knock for but I began to ask myself, what are the ultimate things I might seek from my Savior?
“Ask and it shall be given unto you”
Father, more than anything I desire for every man, woman and child to see You as you are. I want them to know You, to love You and to worship You. I want all of Your creation to see Your beauty, glory and wonder and be filled with the “joy unspeakable.” I want them to be able to see Your incarnation, Your cross, and Your resurrection and bow and worship You for all eternity. I desire for You to receive ALL the glory in the universe without one atom of glory going to anyone or anything else. You deserve all honor and praise for all that You did to reconcile the world to Yourself. Like David I proclaim, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” This is clearly Your desire spoken here through the Psalmist and so I ask that Your desire and dream become a reality, forever.
“Ask of Me and I will give you the nations.” Psa 2:8
“Seek and you will find”
Father, I want to seek what You seek: for the lost to be found. You said You came “to seek and to save that which was lost.” I desire to have that same father’s heart that dreamed of his son’s return…for the day he would “come to his senses” and receive the embrace, the kiss, the robe, the ring and the feast. I do not want to be like the sulking elder brother who could not rejoice when the lost was found and the dead was raised. Lord, like You, I am not willing that “ANY should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
Lord, I also seek that you be “worshipped in Spirit and in truth” for You, Father “seek such to worship.” (John 4:23) I want all to see You as You truly are through the power and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. I praise You that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that You are Lord and that “no one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ apart from the Spirit.” (Phil 2; 1 Cor 12:3)
“Knock and the door shall be opened unto you”
Lord, I will knock on the “Door of Hope” in the “Valley of No Hope” until it is opened for all.
“I will punish her for the days
she burned incense to the Baals;
she decked herself with rings and jewelry,
and went after her lovers,
but me she forgot,”
declares the Lord.
“Therefore I am now going to allure her;
I will lead her into the desert
and speak tenderly to her.
There I will give her back her vineyards,
and will make the Valley of Achor (Destitution) a door of hope.
There she will sing as in the days of her youth,
as in the day she came up out of Egypt.” Hosea, 2:14-15
I share your longing. Thank you, thank you for this website!
Thank you Kathy, it is always encouraging to hear from others who share the desire and hope for the redemption of the world…!
